Just a had a phone conversation with a dear friend I worked with at AGT many years ago, it reminded me that I have been remiss with updating my blog. Great to hear from you Debbie, glad all is going well with you. She contacted another co-worker I hadn’t heard from for some time and verified that she was doing well. I expect to be in contact with Marlene before too long.
My last blog was quite political as a response to a comment from an eastern acquaintance. I will try and keep this one much lighter.
So, to start with I will explain my personal situation. It is no longer easy for me to get in and out of the house. I am not comfortable with depending on someone to pack me up and down the stairs. I am comfortable with my situation and bide my time assisting a friend with his invoicing, accounting etc., as well as reading, listening to talk radio, music and of course following the Oilers. A few people are uncomfortable about this, including Carol, but it is what it is and I am content. We have a boarder who is a big help shovelling snow, mowing the lawn and available if anything should happen. We also have a neighbor that walks the dogs and is available if any assistance is required.
As I cooked Christmas dinner, ham and my secret scalloped potato recipe, I thought back to family traditions growing up. Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years dinners were a celebration and rotated between family friends, the Pollack, Kruger, and Spencer families. Some how they were able to keep track of whose turn it was to host next. The usual Turkey dinner with adults at one table and kids relegated to our own. Unfortunately, I have lost track of those kids I grew up with.
This week blew in with our illustrious PM finally announcing his resignation, too little too late. Then proroguing Parliament for two months while the Liberals try to get their shit together has left us without a strong voice to counter threats from the big blowhard to the South. Thankfully we have Premiers Smith and Ford to speak on our behalf. But really we need a strong voice from Ottawa which will not be available until after an election.
Later Gaters!
Scalloped potatoes are the best 🙂
